What it’s like to be in grade 6

What is it like to be in grade 6? Being in Grade 6 at Dorset is amazing. It’s a challenge full of wonderful experiences. You learn so many great things and have fun learning them. There are many special privileges, but they come with responsibility. Erica in Kindergarten says that the grade 6 students are nice to everyone and she looks up to them. Devan in grade 3 thinks that the students in grade 6 are very friendly, whenever you are alone and have no one to play with, they come and offer to play with you. When I was in grade 3, I looked at the grade 6 students as role models or as help when I was too nervous to go to a teacher. Today, I look at the younger students and try to act as a role model or just to help them. Some of the senior students think we’re mean and arrogant, but it’s just because they’re so close in age to us. What they don’t realize, is that we’re always looking out for them. We try our best to help everyone in the school whenever they need it. I loved being in grade 6 at Dorset.  My graduating year at Dorset has been full of learning experiences and adventures with my friends. That’s basically what grade 6 is, having fun with your friends and learning the balance to keep up with your school work. If you’re going into grade 6 soon, don’t expect to only have fun. There’s lots of hard work and responsibilities involved with being the oldest students in the school. Don’t expect to be doing work all the time either. You get to have a lot of fun too.

Lost & Found—Last Call!!

Hello everyone... I am a lost mitten, or a lost hat, or a lost pair of pants, or a lost sweater, or some other lost article of  clothing... I have been living in the Lost & Found bins for a long, long time. And I can't find you, my owner, because your NAME isn't written on me. Over the next few days, a kind volunteer will wash me and donate me to the great people at Le Centre Communautaire Pierrefonds. Don't worry, another child will love to wear me. BUT... if you miss me, please come and check in the Lost & Found bins quickly. Otherwise I will be moving on to a new home.

The Lost & Found bins are overflowing - please, please take 2 minutes and see if anything of yours has made it into the bins. The bins will be emptied early in June and all items will be donated. It really helps if the child's name is written on the article of clothing and then we can make an effort to return it to them.
